Office Administrator

  • Do you like working in a small team and making a big difference?
  • Are you thorough and detail orientated?
  • Do you have experience with administrative tasks like ISO, IIP or Health and Safety documentation?

If the answer is yes to any of these, then this job may well be of interest.

As a growing construction industry business with 110 staff (a majority of whom are contractors), and some high-profile clients, there is a lot of organising and pulling things together by supporting the Office Manager in their administrative duties.

With this in mind, it’s really important that being organised, IT literate, and working in a busy administrative role is familiar ground to you and that you are able to get to grips with the intricacies of a varied admin role within a construction office environment.

There are currently two people in the admin department, a manager and an apprentice, so your experience and support will be essential to the ever-expanding business.

The role would suit someone with a solid background in admin who is flexible to the demands of the job, comfortable speaking to customers and contractors, and is looking for a stable job in a good company.

This company is an ISO organisation, is working towards IIP and is going from strength to strength, hence the need for an experienced all-round Office Administrator to help the office manager with a growing workload.

Immediate start for the right person but the company will wait.

Main duties include:

  • Supporting the Office Manager and wider team with a variety of office administration
  • Answering telephone calls, dealing with queries and redirecting calls
  • Completing framework applications and tender documentation
  • Liaising with training providers for apprentices
  • Documenting risk assessments
  • Creating and updating Operating & Maintenance manuals
  • Raising purchase orders
  • Dealing with customer queries
  • Dealing with internal staff requests
  • Updating relevant systems
  • Filing
  • Various other admin duties as and when required

We are looking for:

  • Office Administration experience
  • Experience in the building/construction industry is an advantage, although not essential
  • Ability to manage own workload and use initiative
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, spreadsheets in particular
  • Organised and able to work to deadlines
  • Good communication skills (phone and face-to-face)
  • Team player who can work well under instruction
  • Happy to undertake a variety of tasks as typically needed in a small business as well as general office admin work
  • Comfortable working in a small team

In return you can expect:

  • Salary: circa £30k (dependent on experience)
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Hours: Either 9-5:30 or 8-4:30 Monday to Friday (flexible start time)
  • Holidays: 21 days Bank Holidays
  • Stable company
  • Training and self-improvement support
  • Pension
  • Private medical healthcare
  • Free on-site parking
